A view of the Batwa settlement at Byumba where they have been living for almost the past 20 years after being ejected from their forest home.
Some Batwa tribes are doing better with this transition than others. I think taking them out of the forest where they have been living a nomadic lifestyle of hunting and gathering for thousands of years, would be similar to taking a Chicagoan and throwing him into the rain forest with a poncho and a Swiss Army knife.
