Erin and I were escorted into a banda where we could sit down and rest. Bernard and James began to clap their hands sing. One of the women was playing a harp-type instrument.
Just as we teach our children not to speak to strangers, the Batwa have a way of instructing their children not to wander off into the forest because they may come across strange and dangerous creatures. A Batwa woman dons a costume and makeup to reinforce this notion.
